State Lawmaker Taking Sledgehammer To Homeless People’s Shopping Carts (VIDEO)

“I came in like a wrecking ball…”

HONOLULU, HI – One Hawaii State lawmaker Tom Brower is taking a sledgehammer to his home state’s homeless problem. Brower scours streets and parks in his district looking for carts that are out in the open to smash with his hammer. “I find abandoned junk, specifically shopping carts and I remove them,” he said. Brower added, “I also create a situation where those carts can’t be pushed around the city. I think it’s a good thing.” [contextly_sidebar id=”b11ed0b0088d632638f454cc307d4045″]

The executive director of Mental Health America Hawaii Marya Grambs said of Brower’s stunt, “His message to the public is that it’s ok to commit acts of violence against homeless people, against vulnerable people.”

Brower says he is disgusted by the homeless problem and has begun rousing the homeless if he sees them sleeping at bus stops during the day. “If someone is sleeping at night on the bus stop, I don’t do anything,” he told the Star-Advertiser. “But if they are sleeping during the day, I’ll walk up and say, ‘Get your ass moving.'”

“When you are walking down the sidewalk with a sledgehammer,” he said, “people get out of your way.”
