Signholder Asks Mom For Bitcoins On ESPN, Users Send Him $24,000

q1aR9Ee-768x1024CryptoJunky.com reported that someone received 22 Bitcoins after holding up a sign on ESPN that read “Hi Mom Send (Bitcoins),” where Bitcoins was replaced with the symbol for the digital currency. Bitcoin users reportedly got ahold of the image and using the included QR code sent the lucky young man over $24,000.

The exchange rate for Bitcoins right now is about $1,000 per Bitcoin. The transactions started in small amounts but then users started donating up to 5 Bitcoins at a time. The unidentified user reportedly believed that someone might send him one as a gag but then found himself getting enough money to buy a brand new car.

The lucky cryptocurrency backer claimed that he will donate a majority of the Bitcoins to a charitable group called Sean’s Outpost, which is a homeless shelter in Florida that is supported largely by donations of the currency.
