Sen. Rand Paul May Have Kicked Off His Presidential Run On Super Bowl Sunday

by Lina Bryce

In today’s social media world, where the a YouTube Star gets to interview the President of the United States, it is no surprise to see Sen. Rand Paul of KY take to Twitter during one of the most watched televised events – The Super Bowl this Sunday.

Sunday, 538k of Sen. Rand Paul’s Twitter Followers received their “very own print-at-home paper football” #LibertyFootball.

This isn’t the first time, the media savvy Senator from Kentucky has gotten our attention in the most unconventional ways. In 2009, Sen. Paul announced his bid for U.S. Senate of Kentucky on a blimp – a similar strategy proven to be successful in getting people to ask “Who is Ron Paul?” – one launched by grassroots efforts one year prior. Paul understands the importance of getting the youth’s attention and he got it.

Although he hasn’t formally announced running, the ‘Liberty Football’ had the words ‘Rand Paul 2016’ and the web address http://www.randpaul2016.com on them, leading everyone to suspect that he intends too. When it comes to identifying with the youth, most politicians miss the mark, but Senator Rand Paul, makes all the right calls. Thousands of followers tweeted their support with photographs of their Liberty Footballs. Here are some of our favorites:
