Second Alleged NYPD Drunk Cop Shooting This Week (VIDEO)

NEW YORK, NY – A New York Police Department officer was arrested this week after randomly opening fire on a car.  Brendan Cronin was charged with first-degree assault after pulling out his service weapon and firing 13 times at a vehicle stopped at a red light.

The officer hit one of the passengers, a 47-year-old man, six times.  This is the second time in a week an NYPD officer has been involved in a drunken shooting involving a motor vehicle just this week alone.

Ironically, the drunken officer had a significantly better hits-to-shots-fired ratio than the average sober NYPD cop.

The officer claims that he blacked out and doesn’t remember any details about his actions.  When pulled over by other NYPD officers, he refused to take a breathalyzer test.

This incident once again calls into question why police in states like New York and California are accorded special firearm privileges.  Despite their alleged superior training and their special status as “more trustworthy” than civilians, members of the NYPD have been involved in two drunken shootings.

In this case, the occupants of the car that the drunk cop shot up had no recourse to defend themselves against the cop’s egregiously criminal behavior.  What were they supposed to do while Cronin emptied 13 rounds into their car, call the police?
