Nazi Treasure Trove Found! Rare Artwork Discovered! (VIDEO)

They have ways of making you talk.

MUNICH, BAVARIA – Customs officials located and seized 1,500 works of art from the Munich flat of an elderly man who was suspected of hiding his wealth in Swiss banks. The stash of paintings contained priceless works of art by Matisse, Picasso, Renoir and Chegall. Cornelius Gurlitt, 80, was believed to have acquired them from his father Hildebrandt Gurlitt, who was an associate of Nazi leadership in the 1930’s and 40’s. Hildebrandt acquired the works that were deemed ‘degenerate’ and seized largely from Jewish collectors.

Cornelius had apparently been selling off some of the artwork as a means of survival. He was reportedly stopped on a train to Switzerland in 2010 during a sweep by authorities to find people who had undeclared bank accounts. A search of his home uncovered the huge stash of artwork hidden behind his food storage pantry.

The works of art are valued at around one billion euros.
