Mom Poisons Daughter With Chemotherapy To Generate Sympathy

GOLD COAST, AUSTRALIA – A 4-year-old girl is safe after having been rescued from her mother who was poisoning her with chemotherapy drugs in order to generate sympathy and donations online.

The 23-year-old mother was arrested and pleaded guilty to grievous bodily harm when she dosed her child with chemotherapy drugs that she bought online. The court revealed that the girl was just 3 when the poisoning began.

The mother, whose name is not revealed for legal reasons, wrote online about her little daughter’s “fight for life,” and was able to gather worldwide support for her in a morbid campaign. Despite the fact that the girl was not afflicted with cancer, she was hospitalized for conditions resulting from taking chemo medication.

The prosecutor in the case, Glen Cash, claims that the mother did this to attract attention and sympathy for herself. Cash also reported that it is likely the girl could be infertile now thanks to the treatments, as well as carrying a higher risk of developing cancer later in life.

The maternal grandmother of the child is now the primary caretaker. The mother of the child will be eligible for parole in April of next year.
