ISIS (Islamic State in Iraq and the Levant, Sunni Jihadist) is demanding the world’s attention. The Islamist group is one-upping the release of a horrific video showing a Jordanian pilot being burned alive by releasing a new video of them beheading 21 Coptic Christians.
Meanwhile, the president of the United Sates was on another vacation golfing, slightly inconvenienced by the savagery in Libya. Only two weeks prior when he spoke at the speech at the National Prayer Breakfast, saying ISIL is ‘brutal’ and is a ‘death cult’, simultaneously asking ‘how do we, as people of faith, reconcile these realities?”
The news attracted Pope Francis‘ attention, raising anxieties with it being so close to home, and with the Islamic Spokesperson’s chilling words: “conquer Rome”.
However, it is notable to mention that the pope’s address served to provide no doubt to his condemnation of the savagery by offering his immediate response.
“They only said ‘Jesus help me …“They were killed simply for the fact they were Christians,” Pope Francis said. “The blood of our Christian brothers is testimony that cries out,” he said. “Be they Catholic, Orthodox, Copts, Lutherans, it doesn’t matter: They’re Christian!”
It only seems fitting that the U.S. President, who has on many occasions touted his bringing down Osama Bin Laden, would be compelled to respond to the Islamic State’s head executioner in the video (at time marker 2:40) that the West hid Osama bin Laden’s body in the sea, and “we swear to Allah, that we will mix it with your blood”.
Instead, while the video of the 21 Christians who were beheaded by ISIS savages was released, after an American hostage, Kayla Mueller, was confirmed executed, the President avoids condemning the grotesque terrorism of Islam by taking a few selfies for Buzzfeed and then flying out to California to golf with buddies and attend a fundraiser.
It was also reported by Tea Party Network News that Obama’s Twitter handle was tweeting about signing up for Obamacare while these videos were being released. This, just days after the President’s ‘selfie stick’ video.
For shame…
If the President’s strategy is to passively ignore these threats, continue to demonstrated “strategic patience”, signifying nothing – it only appears that we are doing nothing. But doing nothing is still doing something. It’s making a deliberate choice not to do anything.

The United States condemns the despicable and cowardly murder of twenty-one Egyptian citizens in Libya by ISIL-affiliated terrorists. We offer our condolences to the families of the victims and our support to the Egyptian government and people as they grieve for their fellow citizens. ISIL’s barbarity knows no bounds. It is unconstrained by faith, sect, or ethnicity. This wanton killing of innocents is just the most recent of the many vicious acts perpetrated by ISIL-affiliated terrorists against the people of the region, including the murders of dozens of Egyptian soldiers in the Sinai, which only further galvanizes the international community to unite against ISIL.
This heinous act once again underscores the urgent need for a political resolution to the conflict in Libya, the continuation of which only benefits terrorist groups, including ISIL. We call on all Libyans to strongly reject this and all acts of terrorism and to unite in the face of this shared and growing threat. We continue to strongly support the efforts of the United Nations Special Representative of the Secretary-General Bernardino Leon to facilitate formation of a national unity government and help foster a political solution in Libya.
It is unclear why the White House has made the dubious distinction to refer to the Christians who were beheaded as “Egyptian citizens in Libya” and not Christians, specifically. Is this being “patient” or is the President avoiding the confrontation with the raw intentions of these Islamic terrorists – hoping to avoid getting the U.S. in the crosshairs of this provocation until the end of his term.
The answer, one would hope, won’t have to come as a response to ISIS bringing their fight to the shores of America.
