Chicago Mayor Gets Serious About Looking Serious On Guns (VIDEO)

CHICAGO, IL – As violence continues to plague Chicago, Mayor Rahm Emanuel announced new gun control measures today designed to show his constituents that he’s super serious about looking like he’s tackling the city’s crime problem. [contextly_auto_sidebar id=”OTMZsmfZOxPhRuIVOhqu5lUvP7c7b0DL”]

Deciding once again that inconveniencing those who want to legally carry firearms is the best way to show everyone he cares about Chicago’s out of control murder rate, Emanuel announced measures that would ban gun stores from opening in 99.5% of the city. In addition, retailers will be required to obtain special permits, videotape every purchase and submit to quarterly audits.

Retailers that lose their permits would not be allowed to reopen their business in the same location.

Mayor Emanuel said at a police event Tuesday that the rules are an “enforceable way to prevent illegal guns in the city of Chicago.”

Mayor Emanuel’s, like former New York Mayor Bloomberg’s, repeated re-interpretations of the word “illegal” calls into question whether or not either of the two have any idea what the word actually means.

Considering the corruption rate in Chicago and New York, it’s hardly surprising that the word seems so open to interpretation.
