Man fights for right to have house painted like giant American flag (VIDEO)

“You threaten me with $250-a-day fines in a free country?” asks Brent Greer. “That angers me.”

Earlier this year, the Bradenton, Florida man was asked by code enforcement officers to remove a fallen tree from his yard. Greer did so.

The officers returned to Greer’s home and saw that the tree had been removed – but they weren’t satisfied. “We aren’t done,” they said. They began to inspect the house for other code violations, and announced that Greer would face fines if he did not paint the home to “city standards.”

Indignant, Greer – with the assistance of his wife and seven children – painted a giant American flag on the house. “This is America,” he declared.

Greer plans to defend his decision to code enforcers at a hearing on June 17th.

The two-story home has been in the Greer family since Brent’s grandmother purchased it in the 1950s.
