Justin Amash: Obama’s Guns to Syrian Rebels Loophole Must Be Closed

Representative Justin Amash (R-MI) lashed out against President Obama’s executive orders regarding gun control yesterday on Twitter.

The Congressman reminded the American public that Obama started to give weapons and other aid to so-called ‘moderate’ Syrian rebels back in 2013. Many moderate rebels gave their weapons to Al-Nusra, the Syrian branch of Al-Qaeda. ISIS also captured thousands of US arms and equipment during the Battle of Mosul, when 30,000 Iraqi troops fled from 800 ISIS terrorists.

Obama also authorized covert help to Libyan rebels during the early stages of the 2011 Libyan Civil War, where a NATO backed rebel force overthrew Libyan Dictator Maummar Qaddafi. He also gave his blessing to Qatar to send weapons to Libyan rebels, some of which ended up in Jihadist hands. Many of those arms would also later end up in the hands of Syrian rebels.

Let’s not forget Fast & Furious, when his Justice Department supplied weapons to Mexican cartels.

Or that he lied and said the program started under Bush.

The Congressman showed that Obama has a double standard with regards to background checks and who can have guns or not.

Justin Amash followed up with a tweet that gave out his solutions for dealing with gun violence in America. He focused on mental health issues, a lack of economic opportunity, and an unfair criminal justice system.
