Judges: ‘Making a Murderer Confession Was Coerced

By Grant M. Deltz

The Netflix series, “Making a Murderer,” featured the confession of a Wisconsin inmate. As it turns out, a three-judge federal appeals panel has ruled that the confession in the Netflix series was improperly obtained and the inmate should be re-tried or released from prison.

The inmate in question, Brendan Dassey, is now 27 and was 16 at the time of receiving  his life sentencing.

Prior to that, Dassey confessed and implicated his involvement in the raping and killing of Teresa Halbach. It has been revealed that it seems his constitutional rights were violated because the investigators made false promises to Dassey to get him to speak up.

At this point, the state can either appeal to the Supreme Court, or can re-try Dassey.
