Johnson Gains Ground, Trails Clinton by Only 2% Among 18-34 Year Olds

Gary Johnson has been climbing in popularity nationwide. He’s had his messy situations, but among young voters, that’s something they can see past. According to polls, Gary Johnson is only trailing by 2 points behind Clinton with young voters. The polling was done this month by Quinnipiac University. Those polled between ages 18-34 had more support for Clinton in a 2-way race between Trump and Clinton. In a 4-way poll between Clinton, Trump, Johnson, and Stein, Johnson had more support than Trump, but a little less than Clinton.

It’s obvious that the younger populace of voters are more open to the idea of a third-party candidate. It’s also obvious that a lot more Americans are becoming more and more aware of the Libertarian Party, so more are getting exposed to the ideas of libertarianism.

Johnson may not always say the most libertarian things, but he does fine for the most part. He certainly seems to be much more beholden to his constituents than Trump or Clinton. When he says things that receive backlash, such as instituting a carbon tax, he isn’t afraid to rethink his position. In a sense, rather than doubling down like most politicians do, he realizes when he is wrong and is willing to accept that.

Gary Johnson may not have been the perfect nominee, he is still somebody that many Americans can support. I would much rather have a politician that has a few flaws in his ideas, but has a good character and personality, rather than a politician who has massive flaws in their character, and a few good ideas.
