I love puppies, but I also love private property rights, so I’m torn.
A new extension to an existing “Good Samaritan” law in Tennessee rolls out this month that will allow people to break into cars to save animals.
The current law allows people to break into cars to save a child from life-threatening conditions such as extreme weather.
Specific steps, including searching for the owner and notifying law enforcement, must be taken to qualify for protection under the law.
“If you act reasonably, as any reasonable person would respond, you will not be at fault to save a life. You will not be at any fault to save a life and/or animals,” said Mike Franklin, Chief of Nashville’s Fire Department.
