ICE-T to Snoop: "You Can't Point a Gun at the President"

Actor and rapper Ice-T says that Snoop Dogg may have crossed the line following Snoop’s latest video “Lavender,” in which he points a gun to an effigy of President Donald Trump, reports the Washington Times.

“The part where you point the gun at the president — that’s against the law. You know, you gotta know that,” Ice-T told TMZ in a joint interview with rapper Treach. “You can’t kill the president. But I think he pushed the line.”

Snoop stepped himself into the controversy spotlight following the release of his music video “Lavender,” which is named after the original BADBADNOTGOOD collaboration featuring Kaytranada, which depicts the rapper point a gun at a clown version of the President, pulling the trigger and the word “BANG!” popping out the front.

“The gun said ‘BANG.’ I was nervous, though,” Ice-T said. “I watched the video for the first time and I’m like, ‘No you can’t point a gun at the president.’

“He’s messing with the line,” the rapper said. “We’ll see how this weighs out, but I roll with Snoop. I thought it was a good video.”

Treach, who was interviewing Ice-T defended Snoop, according to the Washington Times, saying the mock assassination as “artistic.”

“It was a confetti gun,” he said. “He didn’t come and have blood splattered all over the place. I think that’s illegal and threatening, but he’s showing a clown and it’s artistic.”

“It’s basically him saying everybody’s a clown, including Trump,” Ice-T added.

TMZ founder Harvey Levin asked the duo how they would react if a critic of former President Barack Obama had produced a similar video, reported the Washington Times.

“I think it would be terrible,” Ice-T responded. “But Obama wasn’t the same kind of guy as Trump. It was very hard to make an Obama joke, one because of his race, because Obama was such a smooth character. Like, I think Trump brings a lot of these jokes onto himself. He’s such a character. And he acts like a clown.”
