Here’s the world’s first 3D printed metal gun (VIDEO)

Solid Concepts engineering has debuted a new state of the art 3D printed handgun made out of stainless steel and a nickel-chromium alloy. The weapon in the video is a classic 1911 that was tested successfully by firing 50 rounds at targets 30 yards away. No machining was used to rifle the barrel although there was some hand finishing to perfect the final product’s look.

The engineering firm is looking to show off their new technology that they say is expensive now, but could dramatically bring down the costs of manufacturing firearms in the future.
