Government Might Allow People To Legally Eat Bacon Wrapped Hot Dogs

LOS ANGELES, CA – Members of the Economic Development Committee  in Los Angeles, California are voting today on a proposal to potentially legalize bacon-wrapped hotdogs. Street vendors in the city have been selling the delicious death dogs illegally up until now. Regulators are considering decriminalizing the sale of the pork treats across the metro area.

If the committee approves the plan then the matter could be put before the City council. The ruling could affect the approximately 10,000 street vendors who offer food. Right now the Los Angeles Street Vendor Campaign is rallying at the Economic Development Committee meeting. Their message?

L.A. is a hotbed of interesting street food, but it is also the only one of the nation’s 10 largest cities to completely outlaw sidewalk vending. At a time when the City is finally trying to develop a more vibrant urban core and make its streets friendlier to pedestrians and cyclists, the ban needs to be lifted. Until that happens, vendors continue to face the risk being arrested, having their equipment confiscated, and serving jail time.

Participants are rallying right now as you’re reading this. If you’re an LA resident, maybe you should join them?
