Female Yahoo Executive Sued By Woman For Sexual Harassment, ‘Male Dominated’ Culture Blamed

Yahoo executive Maria Zhang is being sued for sexual harassment after she allegedly forced her subordinate, Nan Shi, to have “oral and digital sex” with her. The lawsuit states that Zhang promised Shi a “bright future” at Yahoo while simultaneously threatening to “take everything away from her.” The lawyer representing Shi remarked that “You’ll see more sexual harassment cases in Silicon Valley because of the male dominated culture.”

The incidents in question reportedly took place at Zhang’s temporary housing unit in Sunnyvale, California. The complaint reads that once Shi began refusing Zhang’s advances, she was hit with poor performance reviews and less important assignments.

In a response to CNNMoney to a question about the executive, Yahoo responded, “Maria is an exemplary Yahoo executive and we intend to fight vigorously to clear her name.” CNNMoney is aggressively pushing related stories to this about how Silicon Valley is overwhelmingly white and male as well as stories about how startups have a sexism problem, again due to white males.
