Feds Creeping on FreedomWorks Staff Photos

Maybe They’re Finally Interested In Constitutional Government?

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Federal agents have been all over FreedomWorks websites in the past two years, logging onto the website more than 3,700 times. Visitor logs revealed that agents of the IRS, DHS, the FBI, the White House and other federal agencies. The main items of interest was the staff page, which features photography and videos shot by the editor of The Libertarian Republic.

FreedomWorks is a Tea Party affiliated organization that spreads the message of liberty and free markets through grassroots activism. Their primary focus is motivating volunteer activists to work for limited government in their localities. (Full disclosure: I was an employee at the organization for almost a year)

White House staff reportedly spent “a huge amount of time” on the site according to Vice President Adam Brandon. “I was under the impression that the Department of Homeland Security’s main mission was to thwart terrorism attacks on the United States,” Brandon said in an interview with Newsmax. “Shouldn’t they be spending time looking at groups like al-Qaida? What do they fear from FreedomWorks?”

One anonymous staffer claimed that it was “not surprising”. Another said it was “creepy” and then continued, “Frankly, it is disturbing that agents of the federal government, who we already know are invading our private lives through any means possible, are also allocating significant resources to checking out our pictures. Who knows who these people are or what they are trying to learn, but I’m pretty certain the American people could find a more valuable use of taxpayer dollars.”

FreedomWorks reports that the Department of Homeland Security was most active on the site, tracking 1,560 visits.  It’s unknown what the visits were for. President of the org Matt Kibbe said that it’s ‘curious’ they are under such scrutiny considering “the flurry of scandals and abuses coming out of the intelligence-collection agencies of the federal government this year.”

“We would appreciate any clarification that the DHS can provide on these questions,” Kibbe added.

Peterson, Petersen – Pick one Petersen

The Tea Party as it was founded by Ron Paul has been co-opted long ago. It’s beneficial, for image reasons, for the movement to separate itself from that label.

RhetoricalQuestion October 30, 2013 at 4:41 pm

Co-opted by whom? If you’re going to make an accusation, at least have the balls to name the offender.

a group of headlining faces in Congress that does not believe in equality regardless of sexual orientation nor in non-military adventurism would be my venture at a guess.

The first one to do it was Becky boy. I was there at the rally in DC. Then came random repubs. Then came Palin, Koch Brothers, etc…

Austin Petersen October 30, 2013 at 10:15 pm

I’m a big fan of Palin and the Koch’s, if that tells you anything about me.

James Stevens October 30, 2013 at 10:38 pm

I learned the other day that the Koch brothers help finance FreedomWorks. Made me want to look in to all the allegations they’ve been facing from the left.

Austin Petersen October 30, 2013 at 11:00 pm

They don’t finance them anymore. They split a while back. The Koch’s have been great philanthropical donors and are radical libertarians. http://www.mediaite.com/online/david-koch-supports-gay-marriage-pot-legalization-and-ending-wars-and-you-shouldnt-be-surprised/

Austin Petersen October 30, 2013 at 5:34 pm

I refuse to do so because I want more Tea Partiers to identify themselves with libertarians. Y’all can turn tail and run, but I don’t give up so easily, or let the media or other people define the narrative for me.

James Stevens October 30, 2013 at 10:08 pm

I support your willingness to wrestle it back. Labels are tricky. I just get frustrated when I hear big media refer to big government supporting R’s as Tea Party. The problem is not the true colors of the movement, but the way the label is perceived by those outside the movement.

the only reason the Tea Party name is brought up is when they do something that proves just how corrupt the Democrat party is..I was a Democrat for 35 years, until this 2012 election…I learned during the first term exactly what “he” was trying to do.

Sir, I may not be your biggest fan,but it appears we are on the same side in this one… keep fighting the good fight.

I like the way you think.

Bruce Walberg October 30, 2013 at 4:11 pm

Maybe there sick of the BS they have to do and want to see how the other half lives.
Maybe there hot for some of the girls or guys on the staff. You know like “hey check out the hot chicks working for this site!”
So there “Hunting” for terrorists while pleasuring themselves looking at your staff photos. NOW THATS CREPPY!

Alexander Hagen October 30, 2013 at 4:25 pm

How did you find this out? How do I find out for my website?

eltiare October 30, 2013 at 4:31 pm

It just means they haven’t stopped. -> President of the org Matt Kibbe said that it’s ‘curious’ they are under such scrutiny considering ”the flurry of scandals and abuses coming out of the intelligence-collection agencies of the federal government this year.”

One of the problems the Tea Party movement has to deal with, and one that attracts the attention of the FBI and others in law enforcement, is infiltration of the movement, and in some cases hijacking of local Tea Party organizations, by extra-constitutional “monkeywrench” elements like the “Sovereign Citizen” and “Common Law Grand Jury” movements, which use the fear, ignorance, and paranoia of ordinary citizens to lure them into spending time trying to gain success against the “inevitable Nazi/Marxist takeover” (as one of these crackpots calls it) by using ultimately ineffective tactics based on crackpot legal theories. This was probably inevitable since the Tea Party is not actually a party, but a movement, so no one is really in charge and anybody can call themselves a “Tea Party” organization. And thus, investigation by federal agencies into Tea Party affiliated organizations becomes inevitable.

Incidentally, I’m not trying to imply that FreedomWorks has been infiltrated by these extremist groups, but the existence of these groups within some Tea Party affiliated organizations may be a reason for the NSA and FBI checking into the personnel of other Tea Party affiliated organizations as well.

Perhaps they are preparing to begin the forcibly take-over America and want to familiarize themselves with the media related opposition. obummer does not have (legally) that much longer in office and I would not put anything past a self proclaimed megalomaniac (which is a psychiatric disease). Although I would think they would want to ban weapons first, but when dealing with the psychotic, who knows for sure.

Robert Long October 30, 2013 at 9:23 pm

Agree

Robert Long October 30, 2013 at 9:27 pm

DHS focuses so much on in country organizations that promote freedom, It proves that DHS is NOT about protecting this nation from the outside. DHS is all about controlling and suppressing free minded citizens from the inside.

Because under the Muslim Infil-Traitor in Chief, We The People, who love and treasure our freedoms, are the enemy to his Communist inspired, Muslim takeover.

When will America take heed?

Jean Valjean October 31, 2013 at 3:21 am

Maybe they were surfing the net checking out sites they like just like every other American who works in front of a computer all day? I mean, if they really wanted to spy on you then wouldn’t they use a proxy server so you couldn’t tell where it came from? It think these are just interested employees.

Sharon Lynn October 31, 2013 at 11:47 am

lol I love it when we patriots spy on the NSA/NWO dolts who are spying on us! too ironic!

Nauseating stalinist functionaries plundering and enslaving the world through electronic weapons, war and usury.

Well, there is always hope.. If ever there was a problem here in the state, other countries may help suppress a dictatorship. After all, its in the worlds interest that this does not happen (There are a lot of nukes here and the would might shit a brick if hitler has them)… So, with that being said.. There is no worry of a government overthrow of the citizens via dictatorship… They already have the dictatorship via the parties – everything is theatrics and distractions. Yall should seriously be more worried about Islam and China here soon =)
