Dramatic shootout in Oregon captured on police dashcam (VIDEO)

John Van Allen is dead after a face off with Oregon State Police officer Matt Zistel that occurred in August. Police released a video that showed the confrontation lasted only a few minutes. Allen exited his vehicle against the officer’s orders and adopted a military stance, pulled a gun and began firing on the officer.

Zistel’s quick reflexes saved him however. The officer returned fire, but it had no visible effect. Allen then retreated and fled in his vehicle, carrying his three children with him.

The officer was thankfully safe, suffering only a minor graze. Allen however was struck in the chest. He was found down the road, dead in the seat of his car.
