Cop Smashes Into Car, Charges Sober Driver With DWI (VIDEO)

MILKWAUKEE, WI – 25-year-old Tanya Wecker was driving home one night in Milwaukee County when Deputy Joseph Quiles blew through a stop sign, t-boned her and broke her neck in four places. Despite the fact that surveillance cameras contradicted the officer’s testimony, the police officer charged her with DWI, sparking a year-long legal battle between Wecker and the state.

An arriving ambulance at the scene treated her for neck injuries as officers questioned her about the crash. “One asked if I had anything to drink that night,” Weyker said, “And I told them a few sips from a friend’s drink.”

Deputy Quiles reportedly claimed that he checked both ways before the crash, but the surveillance camera proved otherwise. The victim was also found not to have any alcohol in her system. Despite this, Wecker had to wait months before the charges against her were dropped. She’s also waiting for the state to pay her medical bills and has filed a complaint against the deputy, which could lead to a lawsuit.

Deputy Quiles is seeking a permanent duty disability claim.
