CNN Host asks Rand Paul if he’d switch parties. Also, is Ted Cruz the leader of the GOP?

Senator Rand Paul (R-KY) appeared on CNN with Candy Crowley to discuss the current budget battle over the debt ceiling. Crowley asks him pointedly if he could ever see himself as something other than a Republican. Paul laughed and responded that he actually loved the history of the Republican Party and was proud to be a member.

Senator Paul voted against raising the debt limit without restrictions. He doesn’t think that the growth in deficits is good for the American economy. The Kentucky senator says that the downgrade of the U.S. credit rating in 2011 occurred because of the burden of how big the debt was, not because of the approaching deadline.

Crowley asked Paul if she thought that Senator Ted Cruz (R-TX) was the de facto leader of the GOP. His response?
