Chinese couple ‘sell’ their baby for a new iPhone

SHANGHAI, CHINA – A young Chinese couple was arrested for allegedly selling their baby girl to get money for an iPhone, according to state media. Prosecutors are bringing them up on charges of ‘human trafficking’. They claim that the mother used the cash she raised to buy an iPhone, tennis shoes and other goods.

The couple reportedly stated that they just wanted their baby to have a better life, considering they already have two children and can’t afford more. (Then why buy shoes and an iPhone if you’re that broke lady?) News outlets are reporting that the couple received as much as $8,000 for the child.
