Charlie Rangel: GOP are Confederates, trying to bring down government

Rep. Charles Rangel (D-NY) was interviewed on CNN about the government shutdown and the budget deal. His reaction was that it was embarrassing and that it’s the lowest moment the congress has ever had.

“This is all about a handful of people who got elected as Republicans that want to bring down our government,” he says. “You can see it in the streets. You can see where they’re coming from. The same way they fought as Confederates, they want to bring down the government and reform it.”

The interviewer laughs and retorts, “Michele Bachmann is not from Dixie!”
