A woman in St. Louis, Missouri had her charges dropped after setting her dog, Brownie, on fire.
Adrienne Martin set Brownie on fire after posting to Facebook:
““I’m on killa mode… kill dogs… today. I mean what I say and I say what I mean… all dogs don’t go to heaven.”
Brownie was later discovered by St. Louis’ Mayor Slay Animal Cruelty Task Force, chained and severely burnt. He later died from organ failure as a result of the cruelty.
Despite Martin’s Facebook posts, the charges against her were dropped because of a lack of witness testimony.
The prosecution says they had a strong witness but that person didn’t want to cooperate with the investigation anymore.
St. Louis City Circuit Attorney Jennifer Joyce said, “We could have a million police officers but if we don’t have one witness we can’t hold anyone accountable.”
“This is one of the most disturbing abuse cases I have ever dealt with,” said Stray Rescue Founder Randy Grim. “It has stricken our community to the core of our hearts, but I am inspired by how swiftly we have been able to respond to these awful cases. Brownie deserves justice.”
