BREAKING: Biden Makes 2016 Presidential Decision

Vice President Joe Biden has chosen to forego his candidacy for the 2016 presidential election.

Speaking at the White House Rose Garden with his wife and president Obama at his side, Biden announced the window for a successful campaign “has closed”.

The decision, delivered within the expected 48 hour window, ends months of media speculation and ensures the Democratic race remains between former secretary of state Hillary Clinton and Vermont senator Bernie Sanders.

When asked about presidential aspirations during an appearance at an Atlanta synagogue in September, Biden said, “Unless I can go to my party and the American people and say that I am able to devote my whole heart and my whole soul to this endeavor, it would not be appropriate”, adding,

“If I can reach that conclusion that we can do it, in a fashion that would still make it viable, I would not hesitate to do it. But I have to be honest with you and everyone who has come to me. I can’t look you straight in the eye and say now, I know I can do that. That’s as honest as I can be.“

He also noted his decision depended on whether or not he had the “emotional energy” to run.

Biden, who lost his 46-year-old son, Beau, to brain cancer last summer, was also faced with the impending first filing deadline for appearing on the 2016 ballot, set for November 6th in Alabama, as well as having already missed the first Democratic debate.
