Bitcoin Kid Turns $1,000 Into $100,000

15-year-old Erik Finman is very grateful to his older brother for turning him on to Bitcoin back in 2012. When his grandma gave him $1,000 gift, he turned around and purchased the digital cryptocurrency which he later sold for a whopping $100,000.

Finman only started with 0.2 Bitcoins, but he managed to sell when the price hit $1,200. His 20 person staff gets paid in digital cash for most of their paychecks. “I’m sharing the wealth of bitcoin because I have no doubt it will be huger [sic] than anyone can imagine right now,” he told Mashable. “Bitcoin is like the Internet in the 90s.”

Finman is a champion robot builder who is using his newfound fortune to create a teach startup called “Botangle.” The new fee-based learning service offers people the chance to learn things that they can’t get in a normal classroom. The variety of courses also includes – you guessed it – Bitcoin entrepreneurship. He’s no fan of school, so he decided to launch the online learning website to supplement educational needs for people who are in rural areas, or don’t have access to good schools.

He’s also not fan of school in general, and his parents have promised him that if he makes a million dollars before he’s 18, they won’t make him go to college.

The 15-year-old entrepreneur finds inspiration in other like-minded Internet gurus. “Peter Thiel shares my vision in that no matter how old you are, you can still change the world,” Finman said. “Not just incrementally but create something new, and as Peter Thiel says: Go from 0 to 1.”

Very smart, kid! Good luck out there in the new economy!

Now, dear readers, don’t you wish you’d bought some Bitcoin in 2012?
