5. The Fight In Their Own Backyard
Let’s take this in for a moment– many Americans are upset that Putin’s display of force may be leading to more Russian military involvement in the Middle East. OK, but why not? Russia is in a line of immediate geographic threat since it shares the same land mass as the rapidly expanding military forces of ISIS coming out of Syria and Iraq, whereas the US is separated by these Jihadist massacres by an entire ocean. Does it not make sense for Russia to be concerned with the ISIS threat and take any action? Would America not get involved in military operations in South or Central America if something akin to ISIS occurred? Trick question, the US military is already everywhere dealing with things that are not even immediate threats to national security.
